    half tiger An extremely angry big cat A theme inspired by the comics culture and Superheroes With a Tiger Meet flavour After a lengthy preparatory phase in order to develop the idea for various applications aircraft patches bags Tshirts we started painting This year again ADJ Harry B and SGC Ced B with the perfect assistance of ADJ Yannick B did an exceptional job In record time 8 days painting was completed and the aircraft delivered well before the deadline Despite some initial mixed reactions to the novel colour as soon as the various elements were applied to the aircraft all who saw it approved of the project its boldness receiving many favourable comments As in all previous cases my work would never have seen the light of day without the exceptional know how of the painters and of all those who turned this project into reality My most sincere thanks go to AirForce Base 113 St Dizier and its Commanding Officer COL Bellanger whose kind attention made it all possible Many thanks to ESTA 15 007 Haute Marne Aeronautical Technical Support Squadron and its Commanding Officer LCL Le Marchand for providing all the assistance and equipment needed to work in optimal conditions Thanks of course to 1 7 Provence Fighter Squadron LCL Rouillé and the men and women of SPA 162 Tiger Flight who also supported this project brought it to life and made such a contribution that they are now part of our team Thanks to you Ced for your motivation your involvement and your Tiger Spirit which means that you shall be a trusted and efficient partner in the years to come thanks to Yannick for his precious help allowing us to take a few adequate breaks Finally and as always many many thanks to Harry my

    on May 20 2015 The situation of the fleet as of today 4 crews out of 9 29 technicians out of 45 overall total flight hours 833 flight hours 2014 485 flight hours 2015 238 as of May 12 availability objective 70 average overall availability 67 availability 2015 74 This Initial Operational Capability means the NH90 MTH can be dispatched for missions in friendly territory The future operational milestones are to implement the Air Mobile Support to the Light Brigade the installation of the self defence and electronic warfare packages and the technical and logistical supportability in host nations with low support Colonel Franchomme projected to reach Full Operational Capability by the end of 2016 Following this ceremony we had the opportunity to witness a little demonstration to give a dynamic overview of the main operational roles and techniques currently masterd by the NH90 MTH capability within a simplified tactical scenario hostage rescue After the NH90 had landed we were granted with a fly by of all helicopters involved in a huge COMAO exercice held within the fram of the THPU Tactical Helicopter Procedures Update SBAP wishes to thank DG COM and Comopsair IPR for the invitation in general and

  • THPU 2015

  • Tchantches join up!
    La Légia newspaper and in 1988 drawn by François Walthéry The Red Devils This aerobatic team of the Belgian Air Force was created in 1957 and flew on Hawker Hunter F 6 until 1963 The team was reinitiated in 1965 and performed its shows on the mythical Potez CM170 Fouga Magister till 1977 After some steps the Red Devils saw life again on the Siai Marechetti SF260 and since 2011 they represent the Belgian Air Component throughout various air shows For the detailed history on the team please do have a look at our page http www sbap be marchetti red devils red devils htm The topic of this Wednesday May 20th 2015 The encounter of traditions On Wednesday May 20th 2015 a ceremony was held at the Tchantchès museum at Liège for the the hand over of the 402nd costume to Tchantchès sorry to Commandant Aviator Tchantchès Since his birth Tchantchès regularly received special outfits of all imaginable kinds which are exhibited in his Museum This Wednesday 20 he received his 40 2 nd outfit and one of a kind the outfit of a pilot of our renowned aerobatic team the Red Devils Moreover during this ceremony he was officially promoted to Commandant Aviator within this team All this was possible due to an initiative of Jean Pierre Dechesne who combines his qualities as a retired Commandant of aviation and his membership of the Tchantchès Brotherhood It was also the opportunity to ally folklore legends and traditions upon the 50th anniversary of the reconstitution of the Red Devils team 1965 2015 Rendez vous was taken at the heart of the Outre Meuse area to celebrate these events and of course throw a small party around a little glass of peket Welcome speeches were done by Jean Pierre Dechesne followed

  • Bye Bye Eugène
    1977 to August 1985 he went on as an instructor pilot on Fouga Magister T 33A Shooting Star and finally on the Alpha Jet Eugène Hedebouw took command of the Flight Fouga at Brustem from September 1975 to December 1987 and when on January 01st 1988 the 33 Squadron Winged Arrow was revived het became the Operations Officer of this Squadron In 1990 and then from 1994 to 1996 Eugène was the solo display pilot on the Fouga Magister He flew his little silvergrey trainer with the sky blue wings at airshows all over Europe Cdt Avi Eugène Hedebouw totalized more than 5 000 flight hours of which 2 500 on the Whistling Turtle Sadly this unparalleled discrete and humble pilot took off for his last flight on April 28th 2015 bound to pilot s paradise All the members of SBAP will share Eugène in their memories We present our condolences to his family and friends and wish them strength in those painful moments Prom 72C From left to right P Demortier J Chavagne C Delhaye JJ Dewael E Hedebouw M Anthony J Lemmens missing on pic J Secret JC Spira W Van Den Enden Coll Serge Van Heertum SBAP

  • Beauvechain by night
