    exercise Indeed since a little while the squadron received their F 16 MLU equipped with the LINK 16 system Although the F16 MLU is a multirole aircraft the 350 squadron is in fact a fighter squadron and so the TDPU could be used to adjoin a Fighter Meet LINK 16 what is this Link 16 is an on board communication network allowing a great number of informations to be exchanged in real time between various actors fighters bombers AWACS ground troops This encrypted system resists present counter measure threats and also permits a better operational theatre management thanks to the rendering in real time of the information by graphical textual or vocal means As such this system allows swift tactical decision management as well as offering a better situational awareness for all actors Following the events in London and the reactivation of the Plan Vigie P irates i n France some participants were not deployed to Florennes but did take part in the exercise from their homebases like the Mirage 2000 from Cambrai The fighter meet gathered F16 from various countries Some were F16 MLU version M3 o r M4 in their integration phase In this manner we could see

  • Operation Eastern Eagle
    of the Wing Heli of the air component COMOPSAIR of the Belgian Ministry of Defence As such the Wing Heli forms integrally part of the flying structure in the defence department Such a change over is not only nominative but also brings on quite a reorganisation for which reason there was no edition of these famous Helidays in 2004 2005 saw again a success story not only by the participants having responded positively to the invition but also to the perfect organisation Less visible but not less important was the safety This aspect was emphasized and demonstrated to the journalists during the press conference held some days before the event Referring to this organisation the public and other spotters came in massive numbers as during the precedent editions to admire some hundred machines helicopters and aircraft mingled yes there were some fixed wing aircraft present It is useless to enumerate all of the participating aircraft as your dedicated site will show you through the photopages how much the people having made the trip were spoiled by the organisers As the Helidays are also familydays number of activities were put up to content each and everyone of us Contests broadcast animations

  • European Trainer Meet 2005 - Alpha Jet farewell
    is responsible too to elaborate a common syllabus for the two nations On June 28 2004 the first aircraft as well as 20 ground staff left for Cazaux to start the project These aircraft AT13 and AT30 sported special markings to commemorate this event see The Belgian Alpha Jets go French The end of the transfer man and machine is planned by the end of September 2005 This first step to an european co operation can be beneficial to other nations as the German military authorities seemed also interested in the project Despite their new home the Alpha Jets will return on a regular base to Belgium the maintenance of these aircraft remaining at Beauvechain airbase Unfortunately the characteristic whistle of the Larzac engine will not be heard as often in the Brabantine skies Besides the transfer of the Alpha Jets the co operation is not only billeted to Cazaux Student pilots will also pass through Tours as well as through Avord for the transport pilots and Dax for the helicopter candidates In brief our student pilots will receive their basic training at Beauvechain on Siai Marchetti and will then be directed to their future specialty according to their respective

  • Koksijde Airshow 2005
    pointing out the smoothness and elegance of this airplane Besides the more usual presentations none the less crowd thrilling of the Fouga Alphajet Mirage 2000 or our own F16 A M this weekend saw also a rare sighted aircraft the Mig 29 UB of the Hungarian Air Force it was a pity the airplane was not able to perform on Sunday due to an engine problem On the static side one could also find some rare machines like a Pilatus PC6 of the French ALAT Aviation Légère de l Armée de Terre a Cessna F406 of the French Air Force a Hellenic F4E a Nimrod from the RAF as well as more current ones To cover as much as possible this event your faithfull servants were on site on Friday during the arrivals and rehearsals and also on Sunday for the airshow We would like to thank the crew of the General Staff of the Belgian Air Component for their care and indulgence Jet Provost T5A early trainer aircraft from the RAF now under civil registration based at North Weald Folland Gnat T Mk1 former RAF trainer aircraft Second Folland Gnat Mk1 almost in full Red Arrows colours Piper Archer II from the Sabena Aero Club Although Sabena has gone this great lady is still present in the memories of various associations established under her wings of the past Royal Navy Jetstream T Mk 2 from 750 Squadron at Culdrose HMS Seahawk Pitts S 2 De Havilland Tiger Moth SV 4 Royal Air Force Griffin HT1 from the Defence Helicopter Flying School Belgian Air Component Embraer ERJ 145 from 21 Squadron Belgian Air Component Dassault Falcon 20 of 21 Squadron Both aircraft of this type have been completely modernised with a o a glass cockpit Belgian Wing Heli Agusta A109HA

    existence the 15 Wing was mostly known for its humanitarian missions which were repeatedly reported in the daily papers The 15 Wing is based at Melsbroek the military part of the airfield of Brussels National since 1950 During the 90 s the Air Support Unit of the Gendarmerie since 2001 known as the Federal Police joined the installations of the 15 Wing and this year celebrates its 15 th anniversary as an independent unit 60 years are due to be commemorated in style so the C 130H CH07 vertical tail was decorated with the face of an American Indian basis of the insignia of the 15 Wing and its various squadrons The Air Component also decided to invite the public at this event so an open door will be organised on September 14 2008 By clicking on the badges below you will find the history of the 15 Wing Transport and Communication and the history of the Federal Police Air Support Unit Clicking on the poster of the open door will give you all the necessary information regarding this event as well as the list of participants After the open door this link will provide you with and in depth
