    on this link on Club RTL PLug TV RTL TVI La Une La Deux and Eén a radio commercial running on Radio Contact french talking and Radio 2 dutch talking on the official site of the Belgian Defence www mil be as well as a presence of Belgian Defence info stands at various happenings the Tall Ships Race from August 19 till 22 2006 in Antwerp at Walibi from August 23 till 25 2006 Four Days of the Ijzer from August 23 till 26 2006 Besides the commemoration of the the 60 th anniversary of the Belgian Air Force now Belgian Air Component this yearly event allowed the Components and Departments of the Belgian Defence to demonstrate their mastery and materials to the general public Various stands and exhibitions gave this public the opportunity to have a closer look at the professionalism that make the Belgian Defence one of the better military forces in Europe The general concept of these Defence Days was spread over 3 main themes Defence ever more useful and closer Belgium into service on 4 continents for peace and safety Defence jobs To give the public the opportunity to have a look at the professionalism of the Belgian Defence Components various exhibits took place On the static side grounddisplay we had 100 interactive stands of the 4 Belgian Defence Components the Staffdepartments and General Directions 1 compound with a field hospital type Peace Support Operations 50 airplanes representing 14 countries Music band of the Belgian Defence Besides this static exhibition a dynamic show included Joint demonstration of an assault including the Air Land and Medical Components it was a little difficult to include the Marine Component on the airbase Airshow including military and civilian aircraft as well as 6 international teams In all 28 flightdemo s

  • Open Dagen 2006
    1977 Leeuwarden airbase became the home too of the Search and Rescue 303 Squadron wich flies the Agusta AB 412 SP since 1994 During the latest airshow a great variety of aircraft and helicopters Dutch and foreign were present and could be seen in the static area as well as during the flight demonstrations with some strong and beautiful flying displays Just to summarize some Christian Moullec and his geese the Spanisch EF 18A Hornet the Belgian F 16 the RNLAF F 16 PC 7 AB 412 and CH 47 Chinook the Czech Mi 24 the USAF F 15 Strike Eagle not to forget the simulated airfield attack involving eight RNLAF F 16 and some pyrotechnics effects ended by a simulated air air refueling with a KDC 10 and one F 16 The simulated airfield attack launch was a temporarely hampered by a little deer taking the runway and surrounding grassfield as its own display area but after a few minutes chose wisely to go back to its wooded habitat Besides these individual items the public could also witness the professionalism and mastery of various teams Hunter Formation Asas de Portugal Midnight Hawks their name taken from the fact that much of their display flights are flown at midnight in Finland Royal Jordanian Falcons The Red Arrows La Patrouille de France La Patrouille Suisse Fokker Four The Heritage Flight 2Excel and last but not least after 14 years since their previous visit to Europe the United States Navy Blue Angels As June 2006 saw the 60 th anniversary of the US Navy Blue Angels a special tribute flight took place on Friday June 16 2006 including the Red Arrows and the Blue Angels flying together in one formation see our photoreport pages On Friday June 16 2006 Blue Angel 5

  • Koksijde Airshow 2006
    Force now Belgian Air Component This anniversary will be far more emphasized during the Belgian Defence Days on September 02 and 03 2006 at Beauvechain Airbase The incontestable rarity and novelty at the Koksijde 2006 airshow was the presence of the new Saab J 29C Gripen of the Czech Air Force Once again this was a very good year which S B A P likes to share with you on our photopages These photopages are a mix of pictures taken on Friday June 30 2006 during the arrivals and rehearsals as well as on Sunday July 02 2006 during the second day of the airshow Some visitors a o French Air Force Alpha Jets Mirage 2000 and the Cartouche d Orée team had by then left Koksijde to be present at the airshow at Cambrai in France During the Sunday show some other aircraft took off to rejoin Cambrai a o the T 33 and F 86 Sabre This years climax was the Patrouille Suisse which gratified the crowd with a superb presentation It was a pity that the grande finale did not see the usual flares Several rumours came through saying Koksijde 2006 was the last show being organized

    Air Component The 2006 flypast included airplanes from the French Air Force within the scope of the Belgian French co operation from the Royal Netherlands Air Force and the Royal Netherlands Marine The 2006 flypast consisted of 6 Alpha Jets smoking the Belgian National Colours from the 1 Wing at Beauvechain but based at Cazaux airbase in France 3 Sea King Mk 48 helicopters from the 40 Sqn at Koksijde 3 Alouette III helicopters from the Marine Component based at Koksijde together with 1 Lynx helicopter from the Royal Netherlands Marine 6 Agusta A 109 helicopters from the Wing Heli at Bierset 3 Alouette II helicopters from the Wing Heli at Bierset 1 C 130 Hercules from the 15 Transport Wing at Melsbroek 1 Dassault DA900 from the 15 Transport Wing at Melsbroek 6 Siai SF260D marchetti from the 1 Wing at Beauvechain 3 CM170 R Fouga Magister from the 1 Wing at Beauvechain 6 Alpha Jets 3 Belgian and 3 French all based at Tours in France within the scope of the Advanced Jet Training School 3 Embraer Xingu from the French Air Force based at Avords 12 F 16 from the 2 Tactical Wing at Florennes 2 F 16 from the Royal Netherlands Air Force 12 F 16 from the 10 Tactical Wing at Kleine Brogel This flypast held also an historical feature July 21 2006 the last time we could see the Fouga Magister over Brussels For this years flight Marc Serge formed part of the military flypast Marc seated in one of the CM170 R Fouga Magister and Serge in one of the Siai SF260M Marchetti Col Avi Mike MINNE was in charge of Fouga MT 40 and of Marc as where Capt Avi Tcholle DEROUBAIX was in charge of Serge and SF260M ST 34 Serge

    and future procedures are or will be embedded in standard operating procedures SOP in compliance with the NATO procedures The aim and maxim of the European Air Group is OPERATING TOGETHER As emphasized by Group Captain BLORE it expresses the desire of the Air Forces of the seven participating nations to improve their ability to work together in the operational environment principally at the tactical level Further details about the European Air Group can be found on their website www euroairgroup org VOLCANEX 05 CSAR is being held from September 08 till 15 2005 at the Belgian airbase of Florennes home of 2 Wing and the Tactical Leadership Programme TLP under the organisation of the European Air Group EAG The Ardennes Helicopter Training Facility proved very useful altough bad weather hampered sometimes the planned exercises Following resources were committed by the particpating nations Rotary Wing Rescort from Belgium France and the Netherlands Agusta 109 Gazelle Apache AH 64D Fixed Wing Rescort from Belgium F 16 MLU Rescue Vehicles from France and Germany SA 330 Puma EC 725 Resco and UH 1D Huey On Monday September 12 2005 the press was granted access to the exercise Volcanex 05 CSAR A survey of the EAG and the exercise was given by Group Captain BLORE and his German collegue after wich we have had the opportunity to go to the apron see the participating aircraft and talk to the crews After arrival of the EC 725 Cougar coming back from a demonstration flight at Colmar France we were granted with an in depth walk around of this new helicopter A demonstration of a CSAR mission was also given extracting three downed personnel from hostile environment This mission was flown by the EC 725 while an Apache AH 64D gave support First stage saw

  • Operation Eastern Eagle
    still very hostile country Pr e paration of the mission O p e ration Eastern Eagle ISAF VIII has in a way begun on March 25 2005 following a request of the Security Council of the United Nations On April 22 2005 André Flahaut Ministe r of Defence gave his first statement as such in an extended participation of Belgium Following the orders of the Ministry of Defence the designated persons to bring to good end this operation started the preparation of the file for the Minsitry emphasizing the practical aspects of this mission Running parallel to these preparations meetings were held between the Dutch and Belgian authorities being a mixed operations between these countries with a total of 8 F 16 fighter aircraft engaged It is a large scale operation wich not only required on site recce but also required to point out the apllicable limitations such as that an armed intervention could take place solely to ensure the safety of the present international forces This uncommon mission for our pilots will last for 6 months during wich they will be relieved every 4 to 5 weeks New pilots will each spend about one week with their previous colleagues as to benefit from their acquired experience O p e ration Eastern Eagle will last untill January 15 2006 ISAF ISAF o r International Security Assistance Force is an international force aimed at bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan This op e ration is mandat ed by the UNO ISAF was placed under the c ommand of the N ATO of wich the nerve centre is situated at Brunsum in Germany The operation ISAF s goal is to ensure stability and security in a disturbed region It also has the mission to put back in place the Afghan authorities support
