    Britain and was integrated in the Belgian section of the Royal Air Force He became Pilot Officer in 1943 and Flying Officer in 1944 Between 1944 and 1945 Armand Crekillie was integrated in the 609 auxiliary Squadron and performed 95 war missions aboard the Hawker Typhoon Many missions where conducted above the Belgian Ardennes above Germany and also above the Netherlands Due to his merits during this period he was hon oured and received the Croix de guerre 1940 avec palmes In October 1945 he moved to the 349 Squadron and in 1948 this Squadron was integrated in the 1st Wing From May 1948 until October 1949 Captain Crekillie was appointed to the night fighters and became Mosquito instructor at the fighter school later on After a period at the Belgian Air Force headquarters he became chief of the 2nd Wing flying group He continued his career as Lieutenant Colonel and between 1958 and 1960 he was the base commander of the 2nd Wing Later on he went back to the headquarters as director for the unmanned vehicles and next was appointed head of operations Installed Colonel in 1964 he became Chief of the TAF Tactical Air Force headquarters and in 1968 deputy chief of the Belgian Air Force In 1969 he was appointed General Major and became head of the Tactical Air Force in 1971 March 15th 1972 Armand Crekillie became Lieutenant General and was chosen as chief of the General Headquarters The Lieutenant General Aviator Armand Crekillie deceased in Oostende on October 11th 2006 Remember this sunny day Panoramic view of the static display Marc Arys From basic training to fighter Serge Van Heertum Siai Marchetti SF 260 bas is of flight Serge Van Heertum Alpha Jet 1B at Cazau x the next step for the future fighter

    lunch break So during more than 7 hours Mustang Spitfire Lancaster Harvard and other aircraft played together with F 16 Gripen Hornet and other training airplanes Various teams were also present which showed off their expertise Patrouille de France the Red Arrows those two teams flew only on Friday the Turkish Stars which gave a professional and dynamic performance and also the Spanish team Aspa in a fine aerial ballet with their Eurocopter EC 120 Colibri But the highlights of the day were without a doubt the massive demo of all helicopter types in use with the KLU together with a Belgian pal from Koksijde the power demonstration of the Ducth forces in a true like scenario of modern warfare including pyrotechnical effects F 16 AH 64 Apache CH 47 Chinook and other Cougar and the demo of the C 17 Globemaster III which gave a breathtaking show given the size and mass of this aircraft After these two days of intense performances the organisers invites us for the 2011 edition which will be held in the northern region of Holland on the airbase at Leeuwarden We can almost predict that these days will be as outstanding as those of the 2010 edition SBAP would like tot thank Major De Jong and the press team of the KLU for their kindness and obligingness during our stay at Gilze Rijen Potez CM 170 R1 Fouga Dutch Historic Jets Association Douglas DC 3 Dutch Dakota Association Aero L 39ZAM Slovak Air Force North American P 51D Aerospatial SA342M Gazelle French Army Ali Ozturk Aerobatics Lockheed Martin F 16AM Belgian Air Force Defence helicopter and SAR demo Dornier DO 228 Netherland Coast Guards Agusta Bell AB412SP Netheland Air Force Westland Lynx Netherland Marine NH 90 Netherland Marine Seaking Mk48 Belgian Air Force Alpha

    the last time the first Tiger meet was held in 1961 at Cambrai The airshow presented during the last week end of june was in one word splendid 9 hours of non stop flying activity with solo displays six aerobatic teams and many historical aircrafts All the presentations where wonderfull and some of them deserves to be highlighted like the Morane Saulnier MS406 in the historical aircrafts an unusual MIG29 from the Slovakian Air Force the powerfull demonstration of the French Rafale the presence of the Red Arrows who left the show after an early presentation enabling them to be present at Biggin Hill for the Battle of Britain commemorative airshow held the same weekend And of course the Patrouille de France leaded for the first time in it s history by a female pilot Virginie Guyot But the most impressive demonstration was done by the Cdt François Rallet Ralloch Last Mirage 2000 demo pilot see our report Koksijde air day 2008 with an Extra 330SC from the equipe de voltige de l armée de l air EVAA a little aircraft in comparation with the heavy jets present at Cambrai but piloted with a great maestria In one word the high quality of Cambrai airshow 2010 was like the french expression un dernier baroud d honneur before the closing of the Tigers homebase Lockheed Martin F 16AM Belgian Air Force Short Tucano T1 5Royal Air Force Battle of Britain commemoration colours The Red Arrows Royal Air Force Morane Saulnier MS317 Dassualt MD 315 Flamant North American AT 6D NT Texan North American T 28A Fennec Royal Jordanian Falcons Jordanian Air Force Agusta A109 Belgian Air Force Both Belgian F 16 s leaving Cambrai for Biggin Hill Pilatus PC 7 Austrian Air Force one was painted in a special Viper colour

    Mk41 French Air Force EH 01 67 Pyrénées Aerospatial SA 330B Puma Netherland Air Force 303 Squadron Agusta Bell AB412 SP Polish Air Force 2 Transport Squadron Mil Mi 8 RL Survival competition On wednesday morning after the general briefing the survival competition was held in the open air swimming pool of Oostduinkerke not far away from Koksijde Air Base The competition was d e vided into three stages 1 After solving correctly a riddle four crew member of each country had to swim together with their life jacket inflated On the other side of the pool they had to brace a broken arm of one of the member and get back with him installed in a survival raft 2 Two member had to follow a line under water with only 50 seconds of oxygen read 5 different letters and give the word to the judge as fast as possible 3 A speed run with survival raft for all the team members Many people walking at the Belgian sea side had the opportunity to see all those teams in action and it was for them like a summer game festival but the main point we could see between the participants was certainly the great team spirit Survival competition Broken arm Under water to read the letters Team spirit first of all Winching competition The winching competition was planned in the afternoon The teams and their machine had to complete this exercice also in three stages 1 Pick up little sand bags 2 Winching out one of the crew as ground guide then precise winching this bucket onto a small bracket afterwards picking up a bucket filled with water and put it on a special platform Then winching the crew member back in 3 Dropping the sand bags on defined target

    to give him the opportunity to train on these particularities like flying with night vision goggles NVG or with the Sniper pod During the training flights the pilots fly various kind of missions navigation air support interception This is why during the spring and fall season nightflying sessions are planned at Florennes as well as at Kleine Brogel airbase keeping in mind to respect as much as possible the quiet of the neighbours So nightflights start from sunset till approximlatively midnight So in the last week of May Florennes airbase knew some intense activity after sunset Indeed the OCU of Kleine Brogel rejoined the Ardennes airbase to fly combined night missions with the F 16 of the 1 and 350 Squadron During our stay some 12 missions were flown The fighters of Kleine Brogel had to fly from Florennes as their runway is currently under repair Without any doubt the F 16 remains the spearhead of the Belgian Air Component and is even more impressive in the darkness of the night SBAP team would like to thank Col L Gennart base commander Cdt F Goossens and Comopsair IPR for all the facilities and their obligigness Adj B Cailleaux for the
