    the Aviation and space Museum of Canada in Ottawa Finally this historic aircraft will be preserved at the National Canadian Air Force Museum in Trenton Liftoff was scheduled between 11 30 and 12 00 At the appointed hour the weather is far from being the most favorable and the departure was postponed to 14 00 local Being invited by a friend to the control tower to witness this unique event Around 13 30 the weather has improved significantly The flight plan Pratt 720 was confirmed and arrives at the tower On the ground frequency the pilot of the aircraft requested the clearance to the controller The departure is at hand Authorization is requested to perform the start up The characteristic sound of JT3D is heard and the aircraft began the taxi to the threshold of runway 24 right Then the takeoff at 14 24 with the traditional plume of black smoke that has always characterized this Boeing in the Montreal sky We were even given a good thinning and some sunshine at times The aircraft completed a circuit from the right to appear in the final for a low pass first time then a second time The show was awesome

  • Deurne Fly In 2012
    point was the flight presentation of the Trojan trio and the TF 51D Mustang owned by Jan Van De r Flier a Belgian pilot The Trojan are presented in different liveries This first one a T 28B 55 138354 wears the US Air Force markings the two others are in US Navy uniform The 212 in midnight Navy blue CN 138343 and the KV863 CN 200 140 in Gull grey and white colors The passes above the airfield by the Trojan trio gave the opportunity to make some good pictures of those three war birds together Another special visitor was planned from the UK but regarding the bad weather conditions over the channel the arrival of the Spitfire was delayed and was only present on Sunday The highlight point of Saturday was certainly the TF 51D Mustang This aircraft was built in 1944 CN 44 72922 and was flown by Maj Robin Olds 434th FS 479th FG 8th AF After the war the plane was owned by different private pilots and got civilian registrations The P 51D crashed in 1991 and was than rebuilt as TF 51D two seat model On February 20th the plane crashed again and his pilot Jim Shuttleworth was killed in the crash In 2006 a decision was taken to rebuild the plane and this was accomplished in 2007 In 2009 the plane was sold to Jan van der Flier and moved to Belgium The plane was than registered PH VDF Once again this Fly In was a place to be for the aviation lovers and photographer so check already you agenda and reserve the date of the next edition SBAP would like to thanks the organizer for all the facilities during our visit to the 22nd Fly In Stampe Vertongen Meet Other aircraft Ercoupe OO

    the Belgian Army Component and not so far away in the Air Component The second part of the event was the handover of Lt Vl Rutger Andries by Lt Vl Filip Peremans for the airshow season 2012 Lt Igor Craeghs remain and into couple of week the season will be launched The third event was the successful accomplishment of training course by two Beninian student pilot They held their licence and it was also an occasion to mark the success of those two pilot that will return in their country shortly For both of them it was also the occasion to thank the Belgian authorities pilots and ground crew for the efficient training and the good mind they got during their rest in our country Enjoy the photographic report made by Jef Pets for SBAP and by the way many thanks to Beauvechain air base authorities and Comopsair IPR for the invitation and the organisation of the day Kol Vl Jos De Jaeger and Col Avi Bernard Flamang awaiting the H24 arrival H24 in demonstration for the last time by Rutger Andries Showing the special markings for the 2012 season Left Leonidas 18 Sqn and right the 17 sqn Grippen

    1992 the Mirage fleet finish his operational service and in 1994 the BA10 was stored at Weelde Later on the plane was sold to SAGEM and transported back to France SinceJuly 2010 the former Belgian Air Force fighter is presented as gate guardian at highway exit Orange Sud and wear French Air Force makings of 5th Escadre 5 OM The early years under 2nd Squadron markings Coll SBAP In the 1980s with the 1st Squadron Coll Johny De Visch In 1991 wearing the 8th Squadron insigna Serge Van Heertum Preserved at Orange in wrong markings of 5ème Escadre Patrick Brouckaert BA43 The BA43 c n 43 was delivered to the Belgian Air Force in June 1972 In 1987 the 2nd squadron commemorate his 70 years and the BA43 was especially decorated This blue aircraft was known as Milky Way During the first Gulf war in 1991 the BA43 flown from Diyarbakir in Turkey as participant of the Ace Guard operation After the authorities decision to stop using the Mirage this one was also stored at Weelde Like the BA10 the BA43 was sold to SAGEM in 1999 and transported back to France Since 2010 the BA43 is located at the

  • Lancaster Memory
    at that time Van Rolleghem felt sick As P O Florent Van Rolleghem was in hospital his task was overtaken by Wing Commander H R Goodman from the South African Air Force The night of May 12th 1944 Hasselt was attacked and the Wing Commander Goodman took the PM X Lancaster with Van Rolleghem s crew The same night British formations also attack Leuven and Leopoldsburg Above Hasselt forced by thick fog the Master Bomber gives the order to cancel the mission The result was some confusion because another Master Bomber above Leuven confirms the attack on his goal This order is heard by two members of the PM X crew and Wing Commander Goodman follows the order of his own Master Bomber and heads back home with his load of bombs A few moments after midnight the Lancaster is detected by Werner Baake Hptm of 1 NJG He opens fire with his Messerschmitt BF 110 G 4 and the Lancaster explodes in midair at 00 26 am This was the 26 th victory registered by Hptm Werner Baake All seven crew members lost their lives above Belgium a sad night of May 1944 H R Goodman SAAF Wing Commander

  • Florennes Emergency Plan
    members were directed to the press centre to have a first point of the situation News were not so good some people passed away but at this time no more informations A press meeting was planned later on around 1 00 PM During this time we could see the Agusta helicopters proceeding to the evacuation of the injured people to the different hospital in the region At 1 00 PM the press point was held at TLP theatre by the Base Commander and the Mayor of Florennes Many victims were deplored Four deceased with the one of the old vehicles group and 22 injured in different stages Decision was taken to cancel the event on Saturday but also Sunday According to the informations the operation was held with efficiency by the military emergency teams no regional emergency plan has to be launched This was the scenario of the exercise that can be qualified as successful All is ready for the next Florennes air show that will be one of the great aeronautical events in 2012 in Belgium A beautiful sunny day a batch F 16 s taxiing on the way to the holding point for a formation fly pass during
