flight demonstrations but a display by a lot of manufacturers The Finmeccanica group encompassing Aermacchi Alenia Agusta Westland etc have shown amongst others a more combat oriented version of the Spartan the MC 27J Gunship Let s not forget the presence of the good old SF 260 in a turboprop version but this time with the latest state of the art avionics replacing the analog gauges by a hypermodern glass cockpit Agusta Westland was also represented well by the AW 169 and the AW 189 but also by the military version of the AW 159 Wildcat in the colors of its future user the Royal Navy This helicopter is based on the Super Lynx Finally a futuristic project the AW Project Zero Half plane half helicopter it s a tilt rotor We will get back to that further down the article Still on the Italian side the company Piaggio who revealed its Hammerhead PPH 1 in worldwide exclusivity This UAV the biggest one yet is based on the good old Avanti The drone was developed for long duration multi role patrols A country that wasn t represented as much at all were the United States due to the economic crisis However Boeing made a remarkable appearance by the presence of two B 787 Dreamliner of which one gave a demonstration Beech was also present showing the new version of the Beech 350 and the Texan II which is in direct competition with the Pilatus PC 21 and the Tucano You will notice that our article is split up into five parts The first part is an overview of the most interesting airplanes on display as well as a view into the constructors hall The second part is about the Belgian participation in the salon No planes but an overview of different Belgian enterprises that play an important role in the world of aeronautics and it s clear that Belgium possesses many industrial assets but also some genius ideas and concepts The third part is dedicated to our future military transport plane the A400M which after many technical difficulties and considerable delays slowly takes to the skies As already mentioned the first model should be delivered to the Armée de l Air before the end of June We ll give you a walkaround of the plane to give you a better view of the shapes and lines of this revolutionary transporter and why not motivate our modelers to create a super detailed model of the A400M The fourth part is about the demonstrations Here the most modern planes of the aeronautic industry show their every facet From the European industry to the Eastern participants and a blink of an eye to the Americans discover the best of the moment Finally the fifth part is dedicated to antique airplanes which also are a part of the salon but some aerobatics demonstrations ass well and planes that have proven their worth in the hands of famous pilots like Madame Catherine Maunoury François Raloche

that makes up a program that other airshows would be glad to present All this on a civil airport that didn t even stop its other activities for this show We re not forgetting the incredible RAF Manston History Museum or the magnificent memorial of the battle for England but that will be for another article In short if this show is once more organized next year it s worth your while to go there At least we ll go back with pleasure And I must add that the taxiway and the flight line were very close to the public zone The photographers spotters or normal enthusiasts just had to point and click for some unique images This is something becoming more and more rare but we really have to thank the perfect organization for this If we had to point out a negative element of the show to me it was the very limited static display especially compared to current standards But once again the meteo had a big hand in this occurrence It prevented certain planes to come even though they were planned in the program SBAP wants to thank the team Vulcan to the sky www vulcantothesky org the Tucano solo display team www raf mod uk tucanodisplayteam the RAF Manston History Museum www rafmanston co uk but also AS Enterprises Heritage Events the press team of the South East Airshow and miss Penny Williams in particular for the hospitality and logistic aid Airport activities remain ongoing during the show The youngsters discover the military way of life Some collector items Not only airplane are preserved the UK is a real paradise for the military freaks Stand by for the airshow So british isn t it The youngsters in the different cadet corps RAF Tornado GR4 from

  • 60 years Patrouille de France
took off quite enthusiastically swinging their wings accompanied by smoke to remind the amateurs of the appointment on Sunday After a break of one hour the first rehearsals start with the Patrouille de France that gets the ball rolling Given the distance to the demo axis everyone takes the opportunity to admire the demo with our own eyes which doesn t happen often enough The Polish Team Iskra followed the PAF and the Red Devils will do the same thing after the Polish team The Patrouille Suisse rehearsal followed that of the Frecce Tricolori The rehearsals follow each other in a quick pace are all magnificent yet each one in its own style The Red Arrows close the book on this wonderful sunny day with a perfect demonstration in their own British way Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Gérard Gaudin Gérard Gaudin Anthony Graulus Gérard Gaudin Anthony Graulus Iskry Team support aircraft Gérard Gaudin Frecce Tricolori support aircraft Gérard Gaudin Gérard Gaudin Anthony Graulus Amazing amount hours for the little Fouga Gérard Gaudin Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus RAMEX technician team Gérard Gaudin Gérard Gaudin Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Grat taking Caslav heading be back on Sunday Anthony Graulus Anthony Graulus Saturday the 25th of May the day is completely dedicated to families and journalists The public don t have access to the base today only the aeronautical associations recognized in France To change the viewing angle I decided to spend the day on the threshold of the strip After the touchdown of a Casa 235 from the Armée de l Air and some VIP movements a good old Fouga Magister took off accompanied by an Alpha jet of the PAF The two planes the old plane of the PAF and the current one did some formation flybys The rest followed up quickly EVAA Cartouche Doré Red Devils Paras and another EC 725 Caracal are soon flying overhead At 12 00 o clock a storm comes by and the rain starts falling like cows taking a piss This doesn t stop the Ramex Delta to take off for their demo After some flybys and a decent show of force the 2 Mirage 2000N land in the rain while Team Iskra was waiting to get clearance to line up on the runway Unfortunately the rain intensifies and the Polish got the order to return on the parking and the demo was cancelled No luck for them the rain stops on the exact moment they re parking and the Spanish Patrulla Aguila takes advantage of the returning blue skies to show their demo in the sky over Salon Lots of aviation fans were happy to see the Spanish team back in airshow as the financial crisis in Spain doesn t leave anything untouched not even a aerobatic team that become more and more rare every year Despite all that they show us the talent of the Spanish instructors by doing
