  • Dreamliner Taste
the crew that we flew to Alicante especially to fly in the new Boeing and requested to take some pictures of the cockpit after the flight obviously had a positive effect After breakfast I stroll around the plane and take some pictures of the different classes aboard I walk to the front of the plane where the crew is preparing the catering After a nice chat with 2 of them I get an invitation to the cockpit While entering I notice that the jumpseats are occupied as well Aside from the 3 pilots there was also an instructor from Tec4Jets aboard Once again I get a warm welcome from the crew The first thing that stands out are the 4 big central displays and a completely paperless cockpit When I asked them if they like the plane the captain immediately answers that he s falling in love with it which doesn t leave much room for interpretation It s also clear that the earlier problems of the plane are all solved After a week of operations no problems haven t risen yet I take some last pictures and return to my luxurious Premium seat to prepare for the landing at Alicante The sun is slowly coming up and the crew is playing with the moodlight which is a high tech lighting system that simulates sunrise and sundown Outside daylight has broken through which gives me the opportunity to test the window blinds at the push of a button You read correctly the classical sunblind has been changed as well Exactly on time we land at El Altet the official name of Alicante Airport As the airplane doesn t stop at a terminal but on the tarmac we can take some last pictures while going down conventional stairs A funny fact

  • Belgian Roundels
by the tricolored flag in various sizes With the advent of the Agusta in 1992 the same policy was held and the Agusta wore a little tricolored flag on the tail during years with the mention on the aft fuselage Force Terrestre Landmacht Army The Wing Heli was integrated in the Air Component in 2003 and the mentions disappeared but still no roundel to be found Then we have the arrival of the first NH 90 TTH all in Army green sporting a low visibility roundel with a colorless effect and somewhat destabilizing imposing to add the mention BEL underneath it This was of course a subject for discussion within the Air Force opposing adherents and detractors Since a few days during the press presentation at Elsenborn the NH 90 RN05 and the Agusta A109 H20 carried a high visibility tricoloured roundel giving something stylish to these kaki green machines But behind this coloured return lays also a thorough study regarding the NH 90 Indeed testing was done by an engineering department on the corroding effect of the glue the roundels are self adhesive on the composite materials of the fuselage of the helicopter This aside all the helicopters of

less known Gerald Daguin and Christian De Brabanter The creation of a site or other publications often requires work that takes place in the shadows This for example is the case for the translations that have been carried out throughout the year by David So6 Niemegeerts and Marc Turbo Arys Finally note the involvement of Bruno who became our Twitter contact and by doing this has really boosted the number of visitors A nod to Yves Duwelz who also has been advertising SBAP in the world of aviation And then there was the administrative part to deal with this Danielle Flea Lowagie who took the sometimes ungrateful secretarial function In an aviation cathedral for our meeting Serge van Oosterzee Celebrating 10 years of existence should be done adequately and that is why we had the pleasure of having special guests When you love military aviation we cannot remain indifferent to the feats of an acrobatic team My youth made it so that I could admire the Red Devils on Fouga Magister and it is with pleasure that we could welcome the man who was the first leader in 1965 Red Dewaelheyns Many years after the Fouga the Reds resumed service on Marchetti to our great enjoyment We had a part of the team with us which made us very happy Over the reports they have become friends I would like to thank them for their presence for their support and for their friendship Papy Paul Daffy Mag and Stef Thank you thank you for everything But what would a team be with only planes and pilots Nothing You understand that I am talking about the mechanics and PR They also became friends and to enjoy airshows with the whole team was a delight Danny Voske Jacko Bart Didier Kristof and Fifi thank you for everything We had also planned to host the one who for two years now twirls the FA84 in the great blue with a big shot of flares our national Grat who since the beginning of his demo career offered us his help support friendship and his perpetual smile but due to personal reasons was unable to join the team today And then there was another grand presence who during the launch of our book project on the Fouga honored us by giving his vote of confidence Given that we wanted to achieve a complete result he did not hesitate to open doors unrestricted at Beauvechain and put everything at our disposal to achieve our goal He was the last solo display pilot on the Fouga Paul Rorive I would like to stress that this first book has opened a lot of doors and it is partly thanks to that that SBAP could continue unabated Finally what would a book or a website without readers Not much it is obvious that I was not able to invite our 100 000 readers from 2013 However we had the pleasure of receiving an avid reader Alain Debras who does

be reassured these volunteers will not give up and new adventures are already awaiting somewhere but this will be presented on another of our pages next year But be reassured these volunteers will not give up and new adventures are already awaiting somewhere but this will be presented on another of our pages next year In conclusions lets tend this homage to this handful passionate who accomplished an incredible job bringing back alive the past and present us these four magnificent machines of aviation history Well done L année 2013 touche à sa fin pour les bénévoles du Musée de l Air de Bruxelles qui avaient choisi la date du 21 décembre pour présenter officiellement les quatre restaurations qui furent abouties cette année C est en présence de quelques personnalités de l aviation belge comme Bobby Laumans Dédé Hauet ou encore Monsieur Tips que fut tenue une réunion très conviviale au sein de cette prestigieuse collection Ce fut également l occasion de rassembler quelques bénévoles de la première heure et ce fut pour moi une certaine émotion de retrouver quelques amis aficionados du tournevis et autre clé anglaise faisant ressurgir beaucoup de souvenir de nos jeunes années Ce fut l occasion pour Vincent Jacobs d ouvrir la fête par un speech en demi teinte soulignant l aboutissement d années de travail parfois dans des conditions pénibles C est ainsi que furent présentés aux invités le De Havilland DH 89 Dragon rapide portant ses couleurs d origine lorsqu il vola après guerre pour la Lancashire Aviation Corporation le fabuleux De Havilland DH 98 Mosquito NF 30 portant les marquages de la Force Aérienne Belge le Fieseler Fi 156 Storch véritable vétéran de la Luftwaffe qui fut entre autres utilisé sur le front de l Est et enfin le magnifique Tipsy Belfair savoir faire de l aviation belge dans les années 30 Ces quatre avions magnifiquement remis à neuf peuvent être la légitime fierté des bénévoles qui ont accompli un travail remarquable Pour être tout à fait exact le Mosquito doit encore avoir un petit lifting au niveau des moteurs et le Storch doit encore recevoir quelques pièces mais ceci est l affaire de quelques jours Cette rencontre entre vétérans et passionnés fut également l occasion pour certains bénévoles de marquer la fin de leur collaboration avec le Musée de Bruxelles La cause de ce mécontentement est dû entre autres à l inertie bureaucratique de ce qui est devenu une administration d état le manque de soutien chronique dans divers projets la sensation d être des laissés pour compte etc Force est de constater que peu de choses ont changé depuis les années 70 80 lorsqu il fallait déjà littéralement se battre pour arriver à un résultat Que peut faire la bonne volonté et la passion face au mur de l administration Pas grand chose hélas Force est de constater que l esprit aéronautique belge mis à part pour des passionnés n est en rien comparable avec l esprit qui anime nos
