  • Duxford Airshow 2014
T 28C Fennec and a Westland Seaking HAR3A bringing some colours in the Duxford skies Then on to the jet era with a magnificent Hawker Hunter T 7 in the Royal Air Force II AC Squadron colours and more surprisingly a B 727 G OSRA from Oil Spill Response a firm specialized in search and clean up of oil pollution layers This is the first modified aircraft capable of spraying the necessary products onto oil layers and as you read these lines a second aircraft is being modified G OSRB Now back to the warbirds again with the Corsair Bearcat and Hellcat followed by two Spitfire Mk Ia and two Mk Vb accompanied by a splendid Hurricane to let us go back to the second world war in England The grand finale was for the Red Arrows straight back from Kleine Brogel but due to time constraints which would have compromised our trip back to Belgium we only saw them from the car quite difficult to take some decent pictures This last show of the 2014 Duxford season was a little short but certainly worthwhile regarding the aircraft on display A minor point was the weather going from fair to grey during the flight of the Lancasters but this is the only thing the organizers had no hold on Unfortunately But rendez vous is already taken for the 2015 season We would like to warmly thank the organizers of the Imperial War Museum and Miss Esther Blaine Public Relation Manager in particular for all the facilities granted during our various reports on site in 2014 The splendid Jet Provost T 5 duo taxiing for the display Jacques Vincent Philippe Decock Philippe Decock Philippe Decock Jacques Vincent Philippe Decock Philippe Decock Jacques Vincent Jacques Vincent Tribute to the World War I

  • AIR14 Payerne
Patrouille Suisse Several formations flew through the Payerne skies presenting the various aircraft types which equipped the aviation forces Besides de 100 years of Swiss aviation other jubilees were celebrated at Payerne The 50 years of the Patrouille Suisse an incontestable national pride but also the 25 years of the elegant PC 7 team Each weekend these two teams gave a combined demonstration with a remarkable grand finale It was with quite an enthusiasm the SBAP team planned to attend this event along the surroundings of the Neufchatel Lake and the Vaud airbase of Payerne But we have to notify a little glitch as the Swiss authorities did not grant us our press accreditation arguing that our media had a to restricted audience sic A pity for our trusty readers and followers throughout the world Despite our right of reply and pointing out our statistics the officials stayed mute We are aware that with such an event numerous request are formulated and it was certainly not possible to grant an accreditation to everyone but the invoked argument was not the right one We could see the web media were simply brushed aside in favor of the printed media So be it As we said the program was worth attending the show and we could not afford to deprive our readers of colourful images of this historical event On the site we had to take note that the facilities for the specialized media were somehow limited The press center proposed the daily flying program and a little mound was reserved for the photographers But to our surprise in front of this little mound a magnificent grandstand blocking partially the view of the journalists accessible on payment for 20 CHF With a little Swiss banknote we benefit from a fantastic location No

Gripen Dassault Aviation with a Rafale C from Saint Dizier or the Eurofighter consortium with a Typhoon in Luftwaffe colours Lockheed Martin was also present not with the F 35 as the European tour was cancelled due to technical problems inherent in new technologies but with an F 35 simulator located in the VIP area In short the procurement market seems to be going and the future months will generate considerable attention as in the 70 s during the famous sale of the century To be continued But let s go back to the airshow which drained around 65 000 to 70 000 visitors each day All of them had the opportunity to admire quite a lot of flying machines from the Blériot XI to the Spitfire Hunter and other Fouga Magister on to the F 16 On the program was also an Air Power Demo which allowed us to see how a combined operation is unfolding in a conflictual zone The script was not without recalling recent operations in which the Belgian Air Force was involved This demonstration saw of course the F 16 in action but also the UAV Agusta A109 the Airbus Helicopter NH 90 and other venerable C 130H The scenario emphasized the multinational support as well with the intervention of a Czech Air Force Mil Mi 24 Hind or the support of a E 3A Sentry better known as the AWACS in NATO markings Almost a one hour demonstration of the Belgian Army and Air Force know how in particular much to the delight of the visitors who could appreciate the field work carried out in conflictual zones As for the multi colored smoke plumes the show was provided by the Patrouille de France the Royal Air Force Red Arrows the Aeronautica Militare Italiana Frecce
